Outdoor furniture on a slab is not an outdoor room. It is furniture on a slab, and nobody sits on it twice. The anatomy is the same as it is indoors — ground, boundary, cover, route, light, function — and it is the last two that decide whether the space gets used in October.
Weather and maintenance are part of the design out here in a way they never are inside. A scheme that only works in still, dry, warm conditions works about fourteen days a year.
